When arriving to Costa Rica, most likely you will spend a night or two in or around San José, not only to avoid a strenuous trip, but to enjoy the different activities available in the capital city and the surrounding Central Valley.  It is recommended to stay close to the airport to avoid the traffic jams of downtown San José and be close to popular day trip destinations, such as La Paz Waterfall Gardens, the Poas Volcano, Butterfly farms, the Doka or Café Britt Coffee Tour, and within a two hour drive to the Central Pacific coast.
